MAKE ROOM
A tribute to the legacy of Virgil Abloh. In the wake of his death, we sought to recognize why he was so impactful to us and to push his mission forward. Virgil’s entire ethos was to deconstruct and democratize design through new perspectives to the creative process.
Often, Abloh worked on multiple creative endeavors at once, whether it was mixing/DJing, architectural projects, furniture design, creative directing, or garment manufacturing. By working on multiple projects, Abloh was able to “make room” and unlocked future ideas through balancing opposing projects, seeking a middle ground that revealed new experiences. Abloh was self-aware of his role as a Black man in the fashion industry and sought to construct an ecosystem of other underrepresented groups.
Through this project, we hope to spotlight some of our favorite BIPOC brands as well as continue Abloh’s overall legacy. Thank you to the brands Afresh Culture, Eric Lloyd, F*ck Ya Fashion, Mojave, New Heritage, Stuzo Clothing, The Good Tee, Thread Haus Co for collaborating on this project. And a special thanks to Brittany Bravo of Bravo Studios.
